It is the time of year in North Texas when Summer Fades and Fall slowly arrives. October is that in between time when all of our summer annuals are fading but the Winter color ( pansies, cabbage, kale, primrose and snap dragons) are not quite blooming. With Halloween approaching this is the time of year to get instant color with Mums (chrysanthemums).

Mums come in many different sizes and colors and can make any landscape or fall decor beautiful. They’re great for borders, mass plantings, containers - anywhere you want color. The gradually diminishing sunlight of autumn prompts fall mums to bloom just at the right time.

This year the best selection of Mums are at Lakewood Garden Center in Dallas, Texas and Green Garden Nursery in Duncanville, Texas. With over 30,000 mums to choose from you are sure to find the right mum’s for your landscape. These Mums are custom grown right here in the Dallas, Ft. Worth area specifically for Lakewood Garden Center and Green Garden Nursery. While you visit the Nursery don’t forget to buy your winter color. We have a wide variety of Pansies, Mums, Ornamental Cabbage, Ornamental Kale, Primrose, Cyclamen, Dianthus, Snapdragons, Crotons, and much more.

Lakewood Garden Center is the place for all of your Fall Plants and Decoration Needs.

Did you know that fall is the best time of year to plant just about anything? The summer heat is fading and fall brings weather that is perfect for planting . In Dallas Texas the real damage to plants comes from our Summer heat and not the Winter cold. By planting now you give a plant both fall and spring to grow roots and become established before the heat arrives again. Fall is also about color, and our garden center is filled with fall color. From garden mums to pansies and bulbs, there is no reasons your landscape needs to look blah after our summer blooms have faded. If you are just starting your garden, redoing your landscape, or have a little more space that would enjoy one more plant, Lakewood Garden Center has one of the largest selections of plants materials to choose from.

Just because some of the plants in the garden have seen better days by the time October arrives, don’t think that plants have no role to play in Halloween yard decorations. Mums are often arranged (whether planted or in containers) amidst Halloween yard decorations like Pumpkins, Gourds, hay bales and . Annuals such as Pansies, Primrose, Dianthus and Cabbage and Kale can also offer an important burst of color. Need some planting Ideas?

Plan now for a beautiful Spring!!

There is no doubt that Spring is almost here. The temperature is warming up and some of the early spring flowers are already blooming. If you are serious about your landscape a little preparation and planting now will give you a beautiful landscape this spring. The first step to planning your landscape is a trip to Lakewood Garden Center in Dallas Texas, where our staff will help you make your landscape something to be proud of.

The first step is to ensure that your soil is ready. Most of the Dallas Texas area has a clay soil which is not exactly good for beautiful plants.

Adding soil amendments such ascompost or landscapers mix is the foundation to a successful landscape. Lakewood Garden Center has a wide variety of soil amendments available to fit every soil requirement.

Once the soil is tilled and ammended its time to start planting. The plant choices are overwhelming. Should you use Perennials, Annuals, shrubs or trees? How far apart should the plants be spaced? Do I plant now or wait util the first frost is over? These are all great questions. Trying to figure all of this out alone is a daunting task. This is exactly why you should ask the professionals at Lakewood Garden Center all of your questions. The staff has years of experience and will gladly answer any question you might have.

There is no question that Lakewood Garden Center in Dallas, should be your first stop for a Beautiful and successful landscape all year. Conveniently located at 2007 Greenville Ave in the heart of Dallas.
